Alamance County is centrally located in North Carolina linking the Research Triangle Park Region and the Piedmont Triad Region.  This gateway location provides access to North Carolina’s most desired amenities.

Midway between the Atlantic Coast and the Blue Ridge Mountains, Alamance County covers 428 square miles of metropolitan areas, small towns, and rural areas.  The county has a general rolling terrain with an average sea level of 656 feet with the highest rise at 900 feet above sea level.

The largest river that flows through Alamance County is the Haw River, which eventually feeds into Jordan Lake in Chatham County, eventually leading to the Cape Fear River.  There are 3 large municipal reservoirs: Lake Cammack, Lake Mackintosh, and Graham-Mebane Lake.

Located in the Sunbelt, the locals enjoy a mild year-around climate with four seasonal changes.  The annual average high is 71.2° F and average low is 47.1° F.  The average annual precipitation is 45.0 inches with less than 4.0 inches of frozen mixture.
